Balayage in Hamburg

Balayage means "swept" — the colour is painted into the hair freehand rather than placed strand by strand in foil. This creates a soft gradient that stays darker at the root and becomes lighter towards the ends. The biggest advantage only shows later: it grows out without a visible line.

Why the price depends on hair length

Longer hair needs more colour, more time to apply and more time to wash out and care for. That is why we charge by length rather than a flat rate. What applies to you is shown below.

How light it can go in one appointment

That depends on your starting hair. Natural hair can usually be lightened considerably in one appointment. Anyone whose hair was coloured dark often needs several sessions — colour cannot be lifted out in one pass without straining the hair. We tell you that beforehand, not halfway through.

Balayage or highlights

Highlights in foil give a more even, lighter result right up to the root. Balayage looks more natural and grows out more pleasantly. Anyone who has to come in for their roots every six weeks is usually happier with balayage.

Aftercare

Lightened hair needs moisture. A silver shampoo every one to two weeks keeps cool tones; used daily, it makes the hair dull. Reduce heat where possible and use a protectant before blow-drying. For the products themselves, European law applies: under Article 3 of the Cosmetic Products Regulation, "cosmetic products made available on the market must be safe for human health when used normally or in a reasonably foreseeable way" (translated into English; the original wording is the authoritative one). We therefore work exclusively with products from professional suppliers and document what was used — in case you want the same shade next time.

Frequently asked

How long does a balayage last?

Three to five months, often longer than classic highlights. Because the root deliberately stays darker, the grow-out is barely noticeable.

How long does the appointment take?

Two to four hours, depending on hair length and starting colour. With very dark starting hair it can take longer.

Does balayage work on coloured hair?

Usually yes, but the result depends on what was in the hair before. With hair that was coloured very dark, we would rather plan two appointments than ask too much of the hair in one.

Does balayage damage the hair?

Every lightening puts strain on the hair. How much depends on its starting condition and on how far it is lightened. We work with care additives and, for stressed hair, we recommend an Olaplex treatment.
