Bridal make-up in Hamburg
Bridal make-up is make-up that has to hold for many hours and look calm in photos. At the trial appointment we settle your look in advance, so that nothing has to be discussed on the wedding day itself. We work on Spaldingstraße in Hamburg-Hammerbrook, for women only, cosmetics and hairdressing under one roof. For the appointment on the wedding day we usually allow 60 to 90 minutes.

What makes bridal make-up different
Bridal make-up is built for endurance and for cameras. It is applied in thin layers so that it still holds after eight to twelve hours, and it gets by with little glitter, because flash amplifies every shimmer. I work with matte to satin textures, keep the colour warm rather than garish, and set it in two passes. The difference from evening make-up lies less in the amount than in the way it is built up.
The trial appointment: how it runs and when
We schedule the trial appointment six to eight weeks before the wedding, which leaves time to adjust the look a second time if needed. It takes 60 to 90 minutes, and it is best if you come without make-up. We talk about the dress, the hair, the time of day and the light, then I do a complete look. Afterwards we take photos by the window and with flash, because the two look different. Whatever you like, I note down with product and placement, so that the look comes together again on the wedding day without any searching. Feel free to wear it for the rest of the day, that way you see how it holds.
The wedding day at the studio
On the wedding day we allow 60 to 90 minutes for the make-up alone. If hair is added, count on two to three hours in total. Charlina, our master hairdresser, is in the house on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Ümit on the other days. Our regular opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.; Sundays are closed. If you need an earlier appointment, give the time of the ceremony straight away with your enquiry, then we can see what is possible. Enquiries go through the appointment request on the website, via WhatsApp or by phone; it is best to reserve the wedding day three to six months in advance.
Skincare: the schedule before the wedding
Facial treatments belong early on: the more intensive ones four to six weeks beforehand, the last quiet treatment seven to ten days before the date. In the final week we leave out strong acid peels, redness needs time to settle. We shape the brows two to three days beforehand. A lash extension is planned five to seven days beforehand: the adhesive has usually cured after 24 to 48 hours, after which fit, hold and irritation can be assessed and small things corrected. It is better not to try out new skincare products in the last two weeks.
Tolerance, allergies and limits
Tell me before the trial appointment what your skin reacts to. Common triggers of contact allergies are fragrances, preservatives, lanolin and dyes. The ingredients are listed on the packaging according to the INCI nomenclature, as the EU Cosmetics Regulation requires. Fragrances are usually listed there collectively as parfum; only the fragrance allergens subject to labelling are named individually. If you react to a product, bring the packaging with you. Whether it is an allergy is something a dermatologist clarifies with a patch test. I do not apply make-up to open or irritated skin. The legal basis for this is Article 3 of the Regulation on cosmetic products: “Cosmetic products made available on the market must be safe for human health under normal or reasonably foreseeable use.” (Translation; the original German wording is authoritative.) For your day this means, quite practically: at the trial appointment we use exactly the product that will also be used on the wedding day — so that you know in advance how your skin reacts to it.

What does bridal make-up with a trial appointment cost?
You can book the trial appointment and the wedding day separately or together as a package; the package is cheaper than the two appointments booked individually. The current amounts are in the price list, including the one for the consultation appointment. The biggest difference comes from whether hair is added, because there the price depends on hair length and effort. A short preliminary chat via WhatsApp or by phone costs nothing.
How long does the make-up hold?
Usually eight to twelve hours, in heat or with a lot of tears also less. For touching up, I tell you which powder and which lipstick to put in your bag. The base itself you mostly do not have to touch at all.
Do you come to my home or to the venue?
We do the make-up at the studio on Spaldingstraße, where the light, the products and the space are all in one place. Mobile styling is not part of the regular offering. If you need it all the same, ask before booking whether it is feasible on your date. It is around 500 metres to U1 Hauptbahnhof Süd, and the Repsoldstraße bus stop is less than 50 metres away.
Doesn't it look too heavy in the photos?
Cameras swallow contrast, which is why everyday make-up often looks pale in pictures. I work a little more defined for the camera, but stay with matte to satin textures. In the room it does not look too heavy, because the contours stay soft and nothing is sharply set off.
Can I add lashes?
Yes, either individual clusters on the day itself or an extension five to seven days beforehand. The clusters are less involved, because they come off again in the evening. If your eyes are sensitive, we try both out calmly at the trial appointment.
Can my mother and bridesmaids come along?
Yes, we do make-up for your companions as well, the studio is for women only. Please give the number when booking, because I allow around 45 minutes per additional face. With several people we start correspondingly earlier, so that you are all ready together.
