How your brow lifting appointment goes

First we look at your natural growth direction and settle on the shape together. Then the brows are degreased, a first lotion opens up the hair structure, and the hairs are laid one by one in the direction you want. After a processing time of a few minutes, a second lotion follows that closes the structure again, then a keratin conditioning step. At the end we tint and take away the hairs that fall outside the shape. The whole appointment takes 60 minutes. The shape that has been laid holds for up to six to eight weeks, the colour around two to three weeks.

Brow henna colours hairs and skin

An ordinary eyebrow tint sits only on the hairs and, depending on hair type, holds around two to three weeks. Brow henna also colours the skin underneath, so gaps look filled and the brow looks denser overall. On the hairs the colour as a rule stays up to six weeks, on the skin about one to three weeks, on oily skin less. The appointment takes about 30 minutes. Even henna of studio quality can contain the colourant PPD. That is why we ask about allergies beforehand and, before the first colouring, carry out a tolerance test 48 hours in advance. That is not a matter of chance, it is regulated. The Chemische und Veterinäruntersuchungsamt Karlsruhe writes about hair dyes: „Individual colourants such as PPD or o-, m- or p-toluenediamine may, on account of their sensitising potential, only be used commercially (e.g. in a beauty studio) for the colouring of eyebrows“ (translation of the German original; the German wording is authoritative). What you buy in the drugstore therefore carries the note that it is not intended for eyebrows and eyelashes.

Brow revitalisation as a care treatment

With brow revitalisation we use a fine needling device to work caring ingredients superficially into the uppermost skin layer of the brow. This is a cosmetic care treatment, not a hair growth treatment. The appointment takes 25 minutes. We usually work with four to six appointments spaced about four weeks apart, because a single session says little; no particular result is connected with it. If the brows fall out suddenly or in patches, that belongs with a doctor first. We cannot assess that and we do not treat it either.

Lash lifting and brow lifting in the same appointment

Both lifts work on the same principle, once on the lashes and once on the brows. Booked together, we allow 90 minutes instead of twice 60, because the processing times run into each other. You lie there with your eyes closed, and if you like we take a before-and-after picture right in the studio. With both, the shape holds for up to six to eight weeks and the colour around two to three weeks, so you can plan the re-tinting and the next lift separately.

The first 24 hours and when we advise against it

For the first 24 hours the brows should stay dry: no shower steam in the face, no sauna, no swimming pool, no sport with a lot of sweat and no oil-based care products. After that it is enough to brush the hairs into shape in the morning. The hairs can look drier afterwards, in rare cases a hair breaks off, and an allergy to thioglycolate or to colourants can also appear for the first time. We do not treat over open areas, with a known allergy, or on freshly pigmented skin. During pregnancy and breastfeeding we advise against it, because the substances have not been studied for that.
