Permanent hair removal in Hamburg
The diode laser emits light energy that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and converted into heat. This destroys the hair root. It only works on hairs that are currently growing — and because only part of them is growing at any one time, several sessions are needed.

How many sessions it takes
For most people it is six to ten appointments spaced four to eight weeks apart, depending on the zone. How many it will be for you depends on hair colour, hair thickness, skin type and hormone levels. Promising a fixed number in advance would be unprofessional.
What to keep in mind beforehand
Shaved on the day of the treatment, not waxed or epilated — the root has to be there, the hair above the skin does not. No tanning bed and no intense sun for four weeks beforehand, and the same afterwards. Some medications make the skin sensitive to light, which is why there is a questionnaire before the first appointment. Who is allowed to operate the device is regulated. § 4 paragraph 1 of the NiSV requires: „The operator of a device must ensure that the person applying the device has the required specialist knowledge pursuant to §§ 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 11.“ (This is a translation of the German wording; the German original is the authoritative version.) How it feels
A brief tingling or snapping sensation, along with warmth. The handpiece cools at the same time, which makes it easy enough to bear. Sensitive zones such as the upper lip or the intimate area are more noticeable than legs or arms.
Where it reaches its limits
The laser needs pigment in the hair. On white, grey and very light blonde hair it works barely or not at all. We say so openly in the consultation instead of selling sessions that achieve nothing.

Frequently asked
Is the hair removal really permanent?
Once the course of treatment is complete, most people are left with permanently much less hair. Individual hairs can come back through hormonal changes, which is why the technical term is permanent hair reduction rather than being hair-free forever.
How many sessions do I need?
As a rule six to ten, spaced four to eight weeks apart. The exact number depends on the zone, hair type and hormone levels and can only be estimated as the treatment progresses.
Does the laser work on blonde or grey hair?
Barely. The laser responds to the pigment in the hair — if the pigment is missing, so is the effect. With very light hair we advise against it.
What does laser hair removal cost?

Do I have to shave beforehand?
Yes, ideally the day before or on the day of the appointment. Waxing, epilating and plucking are off limits for four weeks beforehand — they remove the root that the laser needs.
